BIO/ABOUT ME

I have been supporting and providing education to people impacted by mental health issues and dealing with challenging life transitions for 25 years. I have provided individual and group therapy for 15 years and chose to open private practice in 2018.

I gained extensive experience and training while working as a Primary Therapist for a prominent international inpatient treatment facility where I provided individual and group psychotherapy for adults of all ages and who received treatment for a variety of issues, including depression and anxiety, chronic pain, trauma, addictions, eating disorders, and chemical dependency.

In addition, I have worked in non-profit organizations and hospital settings in the area of chronic disease management including Diabetes (Type I and II), Oncology, and Kidney Disease, with a focus on grief and loss and adjustment to illness. I also have several years’ experience as a domestic violence counsellor and victim advocate.

My passion for working with people with complex issues led me to teachings and workshops throughout the U.S. and Canada. I’ve been trained in various therapeutic modalities (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, to name a few) as well as in experiential therapies (Focused Expressive Therapy, Gestalt, Mindfulness Based Therapies, Somatic Experiencing, EMDR).

Because each modality brings its own strengths and weaknesses, I am most authentic when I utilize an eclectic approach, catered to your needs. I place great importance on the relationship between the therapist and client as the most powerful agent of change. With a commitment to meet individuals non-judgmentally, my role is to help clients increase their self-awareness, identify strengths, develop a greater understanding of unhealthy or destructive thoughts and behaviors, and help resolve deeper issues in a safe, supportive environment.
